What do you like best about being a poet?

To paraphrase a famous scientist; the best thing about being a poet is the ability to navigate strange seas of thought alone.

Depending on the nature of poetry; you grapple with profundity, discover new idioms or cope with emotions and find new meanings. Sometimes new worlds open up; giving you glimpses into eternity.

Personal experience of bliss or extreme sorrow; limiting or liberating patriotic feeling; and something sublime. A rebel who believes that something in the world may change; even if it may not. Poetry is best when it is related to an individual experience; IMHO. Thanks!
