On the contrary, this has convinced me that I made the right decision.
Congress and other opposition parties have proved that they are only interested in political brownie points and a mad scramble for power. Keep the country burning, divert attention from ‘positive’ achievements and harp endlessly on dynast-driven parties.
The BJP was merely trying to aid hapless refugees who are persecuted for their religion. Instead of appreciation, we have riots, law and order problems. Even if you have anger against the PM, this could have been expressed in a more civil manner. National interest seems to be the least of their concerns. Fake cloak of ‘secularism’ hides all their sins, and due to the ‘Modi’ effect, some of them are at least carrying Indian flags to show that these ‘arsonists’ also love the nation.
I am more disheartened by my vote for the alliance in Maharashtra. As there was no BJP candidate, my vote has gone to a party that has only conned millions and stopped even development projects just to spite the BJP. In Andhra Pradesh, read about the Amravati project. Losing ‘global’ goodwill and brand equity is ‘collateral’ damage’ that nobody cares a damn for. We know that politicians are turncoats and use every trick under the sun, but that phenomenon has now reached disastrous levels in our country.
I don’t want to live in a ‘mob’ocracy, but a democracy. The country is in a real existential danger due to these inciting elements including the ones who hypocritically cry the loudest overlooking the suffering of people who are brutalized in those countries and have nobody to protect them, unlike the millions who have already swamped in illegally and seek to maintain their position.
The BJP is not an exceedingly ‘holy’ or ‘morally upright’ party, they just operate in the murky and increasingly dark swamp of Indian politics. But, they still remain a better alternative than the useless anti-national opposition. We desperately need credible and responsible people to serve as ‘effective’ opponents . The BJP’s symbol now seems to be an apt choice, a lotus in the muck and grime of the Indian body politic.
