By Sunil Kumar

According to online sources; the meaning of the 3rd verse of the Soundarya Lahiri(probably by Pushpadanta and Adi Shankaracharya) is;

“Shridevi! The dust of your lotus feet is:

Island city of the Suns removing the darkness of ignorance,

Cluster of flowers from which gushes the nectar of intelligence for the dull-witted,

Necklace of wish yielding gems for the poor.

It becomes like the tusk of a cosmic boar(varaha, one of the 10 incarnations of Lord Vishnu)uplifting the people immersed in the ocean of samsara”

It is a bhakti-filled invocation of blessings for the attainment of all knowledge. Also; other material benefits like prosperity, wealth et al.

Shridevi can also symbolically stand for the Kundalini; which can be invoked with the benediction of a genuine spiritual master.
