Answers continued;

Sherlock Holmes is an outcome of the Victorian era; Arthur Conan Doyle wrote “A Study in Scarlet” in 1887. He was himself inspired by earlier detectives and writers such as Edgar Allan Poe and his character C.Auguste Dupin.

The first Byomkesh Bakshi story “Satyanweshi” came in 1932; nearly half a century later. Saradindu Bandyopadhyay was from Kolkata and Bengal; which was certainly enamored of the British. So; some elements of the Sherlock and Watson dynamic creeped into Byomkesh Bakshi; except for the fact that Byomkesh is married; and quintessentially Indian.
