Ancient History: Was Achilles really great?

My answers continued;

Achilles is a mythical figure; and his existence cannot be confirmed for sure. But; if we take Homer’s accounts about him; he certainly is an extraordinary warrior if he actually existed.

Achilles was the son of the Nereid(a nymph) Thetis and Peleus, the king of the Myrmidons; a group he commanded in the Trojan war. Like all ancient stories; there is an element of hyperbole and poetic license in the Achilles canon. Greek myths have other interesting figures such as Heracles; Odysseus, Perseus and Theseus. So; in comparison to such an august gathering; Achilles still remains interesting.
